Soaring Raisins

First, add 3 tbsp of baking soda to a jar half filled with water.  Then add vinegar until bubbles form.  Add about five or six raisins.  Watch the bubbles form on the raisins.  When enough bubbles attach, they carry the raisin to the top of the water.  When the bubbles break at the water's surface, the raisins sink back to the bottom.  This process illustrates cellular respiration!  Carbon dioxide forms in our bodies.  After cellular respiration occurs, the gas must be released.  The carbon dioxide is exchanged with oxygen in the alveoli of the lungs.
